Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is coming in October…
Get ready with this handy guide brought to you by the Product Team.

What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
Multi-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to make your account even safer. Think of it as a second lock on your door — it makes it much harder for unauthorised users to get in. It’s highly effective, blocking up to 99% of automated attacks.
We’re adding it to protect the data of our growing user base on Match My Project. Plus, for many local authorities, this type of enhanced security is now a minimum requirement and helps them manage their risk.
How will it work?
From October, whenever you log in on a new device, we’ll send a secure 6-digit code to the email address linked to your account. You’ll be prompted to enter this code after entering your password in order to access your account.
You can choose to trust the device, so you won’t be prompted for the code again for 30 days. You’ll be able to manage your trusted devices in your Profile.
You may also be asked to enter a verification code in other cases — for example, when downloading your data — as an extra layer of security.
What actions do I need to take?
Make sure you can easily access the inbox for the email address linked to your Match My Project account. If multiple people share a single email address, ensure everyone can access it when needed.
You can update your email or add users to your organisation’s account by visiting your Profile, accessible from the sidebar when logged in. See the step-by-step guides below.
How do I update my email address?

1. Go to ‘Profile’ in the sidebar.
2. Click the first dropdown to open the ‘Personal’ section.
3. Select ‘Change email’.
4. Type in your new email address and click ‘Save’.
5. You will be logged out and will need to click a verification link sent to your updated email address to confirm the change.
How do I add users to my organisation’s account?

1. Go to ‘Profile’ in the sidebar.
2. Click the second dropdown to open the ‘Users’ section.
3. Select ‘Add another user’
4. Type in their new email address and click ‘Send invite’ to send them a link to set up their account.
