What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Multi-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security <\/strong>to make your account even safer. Think of it as a second lock on your door \u2014 it makes it much harder for unauthorised users to get in. It\u2019s highly effective, blocking up to 99% of automated attacks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve added it to protect the data of our growing user base on Match My Project. Plus, for many local authorities, this type of enhanced security is now a minimum requirement and helps them manage their risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does it work?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Whenever you log in on a new device, a secure 6-digit code<\/strong> is sent to the email address linked to your account. You’re prompted to enter this code after entering your password in order to access your account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can choose to trust the device<\/strong>, so you won\u2019t be prompted for the code again for 30 days. You\u2019ll be able to manage your trusted devices in your Profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may also be asked to enter a verification code in other cases \u2014 for example, when downloading your data \u2014 as an extra layer of security<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What actions do I need to take?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Make sure you can easily access the inbox for the email address linked to your Match My Project account.<\/strong> If multiple people share a single email address, ensure everyone can access it when needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can update your email<\/a> <\/strong>or add users<\/a> <\/strong>to your organisation’s account by visiting your Profile, accessible from the sidebar when logged in. See the step-by-step guides below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do I update my email address?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

1. Go to \u2018Profile<\/strong>\u2019 in the sidebar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Click the first dropdown to open the \u2018Personal<\/strong>\u2019 section. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Select \u2018Change email<\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Type in your new email address<\/strong> and click ‘Save’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. You will be logged out and will need to click a verification link<\/strong> sent to your updated email address to confirm the change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do I add users to my organisation\u2019s account?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

4. Type in their new email address and click \u2018Send invite\u2019 to send them a link to set up their account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
